《小社会第二卷》在第一卷的基础上，跳出具象的市井人物，从文本出发，结合成员自身不断刷新的世界观，思辨针对小社会的出路与可能。小社会人们的未来，将怎样建立在他们的过去和现在之上？假装革命、努力挣钱还是虚无？草台班最新创作的《小社会第二卷》，依然充满自我审视的目光，只是戏做得更加艰难和冒险……
《小社会》打破刻板的“编─导─演”戏剧方式，由多位来自不同职业的成员的单人创作为素材整理组合而成。这些创作是参与者在2008年“个人创作社区表演计划”与2009年《小社会第一卷》的六城拉练演出的经验基础上，结合草台班集体创作传统，以社会观察、文献资料为创作内容素材，以求表达自己对小社会人们的情感与出路的寻求。策划人兼导演赵川表示，《小社会》在内容和形式上，都有别于外面一般的商业或主流戏剧，是对现实主义艺术理想的重新挖掘，该系列希望在今后数年内能不断推进和深入，以呈现更丰富的当今中国社会生活百态。

Based on its First Volume, The Little Society, Volume
Two dwells on the ways-out and possibilities of a small
society by moving away from concrete city people and
continuously updating members’ own world views based on
the text itself. How can the future of the people in a
small society be built on their past and present?
Pretending to be a revolutionary, trying to make more
money or just being nihilistic? The Little Society,
Volume 2, newly created by Grass Stage, remains filled
with a self-investigative vision except that the
performance is even more difficult and risk-taking…
The Little Society breaks the rigid mode of theatre
involving the playwright, the director and the actors by
combining individual creations as material creative by a
number of members from all walks of life. These
creations are efforts to express the emotions and
ways-out of people in the little society made by the
participants who combine the collective creative
tradition of Grass Stage and subject matter involving
social investigation and literature data, based on their
experience collected from their performance touring six
cities in staging The Little Society, Volume One between
2008 and 2009 in the ‘Individual Creative Community
Performance Plan’. Zhao Chuan, curator and director,
said that The Little Society, in contents as well as in
form, is different from general commercial plays or even
mainstream theatre as it is a renewed excavation of
realist art ideal. Hopefully, this series will keep
progressing and advancing in the next few years in a
richer presentation of all aspects of contemporary
Chinese life.
